As per Arsenal Fanatic News on X, defender Gabriel Magalhaes is close to agreeing to a new contract extension with Arsenal after an initial round of talks last month.
The 27-year-old joined the club in 2020 from Lille and signed a fresh five-year contract in the year 2022. Hence, the English side accelerated the talks since they only have time until 2027.
Arsenal are now planning to tie the centre-back to a longer contract, and we anticipate a new three-year deal being offered on the table for the star player.

The Brazil international’s agent, Guiliano Bertoluicci, was actively involved in contract discussions and was recently seen at the Sobha Realty Training Centre. As per sources, a new term was structured and accepted from both parties, and the player just needed to put pen to paper.

Magalhaes was a crucial part of the Gunner’s two title charges in 2023 and 2024. The towering defender’s powerful headers, solid defensive blocks, and an aggressive approach to the game make him quite special.
He remains a criminally underrated part of Mikel Arteta’s squad, and he doesn’t get as much plaudits as his fellow defensive partner William Saliba. He has appeared 191 times for the North London outfit, scoring 19 times (five goal contributions this season).
The club wants to remain competitive for the foreseeable future, and Magalhaes is seen as a key part of their plans. More contract extensions are expected to come by, and that is a great sight for the fans.
One major advantage for them is that the South American ace hasn’t been a serious target for top clubs, and that makes it easier for the Gooners to convince him to stay.

Keeping hold of both Saliba and Magalhaes will secure their defensive line for years to come, and this could be key to ending their wait of lifting the Premier League trophy.
