According to a report by the Athletic, Arsenal forward, Gabriel Martinelli has agreed to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract extension with the club.
The 21-year-old’s previous contract was set to expire in 2024, but the new deal will keep him in the Emirates until 2028. Martinelli has been in impressive form this season, scoring seven goals in 26 appearances across all competitions and playing an important role in Arsenal’s push for their first Premier League title in 19 years.
He was signed by Arsenal in 2019 from Brazilian club Ituano for £6.4 million, after having a trial with Manchester United. Additionally, the club is also said to be looking to extend the contracts of defender William Saliba and forward Bukayo Saka.
With this extension, Arsenal will secure the future of the Brazilian forward, who has shown a lot of potential and promise on the pitch for them. This would also be a statement of intent from the club, showing they are willing to invest and re-invest in young talents and build a team for the future.
