Arsenal fans, get ready for some big news as reports suggest that the Gunners are in the lead to sign Lazio’s star midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
According to Sport Witness, the north London club has been one of several teams monitoring the Serbian international for a few seasons now, and it seems like the time has finally come to land the talented midfielder.
The report also mentions that Milinkovic-Savic’s asking price may be lower than previously estimated, which could work in Arsenal’s favor. The 27-year-old had previously rejected advances from some of Europe’s top clubs, showing his loyalty to Lazio, who are currently sitting 4th in the Serie A.
🚨 Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will leave Lazio due to his ‘desire to try a new experience’, with his decision now ‘irreversible’. Arsenal ‘remain the favourite destination’ of the player & they have ‘taken the most convinced steps’ in signing him. [@CorSport via @Sport_Witness] #afc pic.twitter.com/mlOktXzPUd

Despite the recent signing of Jorginho from Chelsea, Arsenal seems to be looking for a long-term solution and with Milinkovic-Savic being four years younger than Jorginho, he could be the ideal replacement for the Italian in the near future.
His agent, Mateja Kezman, is reportedly keen on moving him to a new club this summer to avoid situations with Lazio into losing him on a free transfer next year. It will be interesting to see what value Lazio puts on Milinkovic-Savic, especially with Chelsea’s recent signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £105 million.
