Arsenal show interest in signing versatile £41m-rated centre-back who plies trade for Atalanta

Isak-Hein-Arsenal

Arsenal are interested in signing Atalanta centre-back Isak Hein and are ready to pay a big sum to land him next summer, per a recent report by Fichajes.

The 25-year-old star has been instrumental in helping the Nerazzurri lift the Europa League title last year and he also enjoyed a rock-solid display against Arsenal in the Champions League clash this season.

The defender has a bright future in Serie A, and the Gunners want to test their luck in the Italian division by targeting another defender in Hein.

Hein also boasted incredible all-round stats for Sweden in their Nations League clash vs. Estonia yesterday.

Arsenal have different profiles at the back, with players showing their versatility in providing more tactical options. Although Mikel Arteta’s team boasts significant depth, he wants to add more players in order to increase the level of competition in the squad. And the Spaniard wants to let his players know that no one is guaranteed a spot in the starting XI. Hence, their interest in the Swedish centre-back makes sense.

Hein can operate on both sides of defence, providing a great backup option for William Saliba or Gabriel Magalhaes. This will also help the club to cash in on Jakub Kiwior, who is attracting interest from Juventus.

The North London outfit is ready to splash €50 million (£41m) for the Atalanta ace, a fee that could make him one of the most expensive CBs in the league.

Hein is well known for his upgraded style of play. He is a modern centre-back who loves to play aggressively and also move the ball forward when needed. The 6’2″ is strong aerially and is not afraid of throwing wild challenges.

Signing him will help the manager in regularly rotating his key defenders without compromising the quality. Riccardo Calafiori has adapted really well to life in England, and Hein could follow suit.

It will be interesting to see whether the club initiates transfer talks with the Serie A star. There is no real competition to sign him, and hence, Arsenal can consider themselves favourites to bring him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
