Kiwior-Arsenal-future

Arsenal’s road to glory this season requires crucial decision-making, and a significant decision involving a brilliant first-team player has come up this week—the player in question is Jakub Kiwior.

The 24-year-old is attracting interest from all over Europe, particularly from Italy. AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli have all expressed interest in landing his signatures this summer, and these interests will now push Arsenal to make a decision regarding Kiwior’s future.

According to Polish outlet Meczyki, the North London giants will make a decision on the future of Jakub Kiwior when the club returns from the pre-season tour in the United States, and discussions regarding the Polish international’s future will likely take place.

Kiwior joined Arsenal from Spezia for £21 million in January last year. Though the defender didn’t find his footing right away at the club, he eventually grew to display Premier League potential. So far, Arsenal have played three friendly matches against AFC Bournemouth, Manchester United, and Liverpool, with Kiwior starting one game and coming off the bench in two.

On Monday, the Gunners announced the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for £42 million on a long-term contract. The Italian is joining the team as an upgrade over Kiwior, who made 30 appearances last season. Bologna wanted to include Kiwior in the Calafiori deal, but the Pole refused. Fans speculate that with the signing of Calafiori, it could have a domino effect on Kiwior’s future at the club, and it could see the 24-year-old leaving London Colney with potential European clubs eyeing his services.

At 24, Kiwior is still young and could be an asset to any team. Given his age, the defender might seek regular game time. Calafiori, like the Polish international, is left-footed and can play as a fullback or centerback, making him direct competition for Kiwior.

While Kiwior could certainly fight for a place in Arteta’s plan, he might also seek a better environment that can give him space to develop.

Whether Arteta will allow the 24-year-old to find a new club to manage the club’s finances after the £42 million deal remains unclear. However, if Kiwior is given the green light, his transfer might happen within the blink of an eye considering the immense interest in him.
