Arsenal have been looking at pushing the gas pedal on the transfer deals as we head into the final weeks of the summer transfer window. The Gunners have already acquired highly rated defender Riccardo Calafiori on the back of his exceptional EURO 2024 campaign and are set to sign another player who enjoyed a phenomenal European campaign, Mikel Merino. The move for Merino is expected to be in the final stages as the Gunners look to welcome the second signing of their summer.

With the defence and midfield being shopped for, Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his forward line as the club looks to buy a wide forward and a possible striker before the window concludes. The Gunners are going Dutch, as PSV winger Johan Bakayoko is high up on Edu’s list this summer.

Arsenal will be looking at a possible move to bring in a backup to Bukayo Saka. The England international has been run to the ground in past campaigns, and the officials at London Colney would be looking to avoid going down that road once again this season. Mikel subbing Saka off against the Wolves suggests that we are already looking at possibilities to rest the Englishman to avoid exhaustion when the end of the season comes around.

In Johan Bakayoko, the Gunners can bring in a highly rated right-winger who has been clocking insane performances in the Dutch top tier. The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and registered another 14 assists in all competitions last season. He was also involved against the Gunners when we faced PSV in the group stages of the Champions League last season.

Recently speaking in an interview with ESPN, the Belgium winger reiterated his goals to play for the elites if he were to move away from PSV. He said, “I’m not going for a mid-table Premier League team. I will summarise it very briefly: I want to be able to become a champion, play in the Champions League, and play myself in the team.”

While he will have to grind and earn minutes to play in this Arsenal squad, he will definitely be playing among the most elite of teams in the world at the moment, complemented by featuring under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal have enquired about a possible move for PSV forward Johan Bakayoko; however, a lot of the Gunners dealings depend on outgoings. Any possible exit of Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah can help Arsenal free up space in the squad to fortify their interest in signing Bakayoko.

The Gunners are said to now have the famous 150-page Dossier in Edu’s possession around the player, according to Arsenal23Wenger on his patreon, but for now, we wait patiently, enjoy Merino’s signing, and hope for some movement on the outgoings.
