Arsenal commenced their Premier League campaign on a high as the Gunners got their season underway against Wolves at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s side triumphed over Gary O’Neil’s highly technical side with a 2-0 margin as Kai Havertz netted a header to open the goal scoring for the Gunners while Bukayo Saka scored an absolute near-post banger to net the winner before he was eventually subbed off.
The Gunners enjoyed a perfect start to the campaign as they aim to leapfrog Manchester City in their title bid this season.
Jurrien Timber earns high praise from Neville
While many Arsenal players put in an impressive performance, Gary Neville was caught out by one substitute in particular. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show, the Manchester United legend picked Jurrien Timber as the player to watch out for in the English top tier this season.
“Yeah, just last season, I was looking forward to him coming to Arsenal and sort of adding defensive stability to the squad,” Neville said.
“They did that anyway without him. I think the fact that he has been out for so long, will just be interesting to see. Arsenal obviously haven’t made a lot of additions to their squad this year, so he feels like a new addition. I would just like to see him play and see how he fits in.”
The title tip
Gary Neville is also backing the Gunners to win the Premier League title this season.
“My reasoning [for backing Arsenal] last year was that coming off the back of the treble for City might have an impact on them at certain points, the demands, the expectations, the injuries, but I think they won their last nine games, which is just special.
“Arsenal had an incredible season so I was not a million miles away. They are getting nearer and I feel they will do it. Pep Guardiola wins all the time but I feel Arsenal are so consistent that this could be the year.”

It’s a breath of fresh air watching Neville speak good things about Arsenal. And I absolutely agree with his take on Jurrien Timber. People have been speaking about Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko, but the Dutch ace has the capacity to be the game changer in that left-back slot.
Ideally, as the season progresses, Cala and Jurrien should swap positions once both of them get their fitness back and get their season underway.
