Arsenal are plotting a move for Bayern winger on a season-long loan – not Sane

Kingsley-Coman-Arsenal

Arsenal’s attack is well-rounded as it is, with Mikel Arteta having Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz for the forward positions. However, with someone like Reiss Nelson expected to be sold this summer, the Gunners might be looking at another wide attacker.

Arteta’s men have been linked with a few wingers so far this summer. The most high-profile option considered by the Gunners was Nico Williams who has been announced as Athletic Bilbao’s number 10 for the season. There have also been talks of a move for Federico Chiesa and Leroy Sane.

Both the Italian and the German wingers are in the final years of their current contract, making them excellent market opportunities for any interested team. Chiesa finds himself out of favour under Thiago Motta with the ex-Barcelona player looking to move him on but the same cannot be said of Sane.

If not Sane, why not Kingsley Coman?

Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s new manager seems to have Sane in his plans for the season but he has placed another winger on the loan/transfer list. Kingsley Coman will be allowed to leave the German giants this summer on a loan or permanent transfer and this has piqued Arsenal’s interest.

Arsenal are now plotting a season-long loan move for the French winger and the player is keen on making it happen. However, the 28-year-old is seeking assurances over his playtime at the Emirates. Incidentally, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is a huge fan of Coman and wants to sign him for the Catalan club.

Coman’s move to Arsenal could be complicated due to the fact that he might not be a starter for Arteta’s team. Martinelli and Saka have firmly locked down their places on either wing with Leandro Trossard providing able backup to the former. This could play in the Frenchman’s mind during his decision-making process.

The 28-year-old also has a torrid injury history, having suffered various issues throughout his career. In fact, it is difficult to remember a season when Coman was fit for the entirety of the campaign and at 28, the pattern is unlikely to change. That said, players do start understanding their bodies better as they age.

Arsenal and Arteta could convince the player to join this summer but this is likely to be a move more beneficial for the club than the player himself. At 28, Coman is entering the prime years of his career and would not want to spend them on the bench at the Emirates. Thus, this deal might be difficult to pull off despite the obvious interest.
