Leon Goretzka is one of the greatest young talents of football of recent days. The German professional footballer is currently playing for Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.
The contract of the player with the club is going to be expired after this season. All the big clubs of Europe are trying to make a move for this young talented player and Arsenal are one of the clubs who are trying to sign the player who is just 22 years old now.
He is considered as one of the brightest talents of German Football. The potential the player is having in this age is just unbelievable. The player had won the Confederation Cup for Germany in 2017. He was also awarded the Silver Boot and Bronze Ball in that tournament. He was also in the Germany’s Olympic team in 2016.
The player has a great quality of distributing the ball. He can be deployed in both attack and defense. His ball control and passing quality is phenomenal. He also possesses a good eye of scoring as his powerful shots from the edge of the penalty box or the bullet headers are enough to keep the opponent defenders busy in marking him. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are in the race of signing this youth talent along with Arsenal. But German national team manager Bierhoff’s comments made all the transfer rumours sounding very fishy.
“We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sané and [Schalke’s] Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game. We have to pay attention and invest again and again in the education of our coaches.”, Bierhoff told.
Bierhoff made it clear that the player would join an English club after the end of the season. The winter transfer window is also going to be very interesting for Goretzka as he could sign a pre contract with any club this January.
But German Football expert Raphael Honigstein had cleared the confusion arising after the comments of Bierhoff.
“ Bierhoff told me he was talking about a *hypothetical* move to England and that he believes player doesn’t know himself yet where he’ll be next season.”, Raphael Honigstein tweeted.
Arsenal needs to sign a central midfield like Goretzka who is possessing both the attacking and defensive qualities. Currently Arsenal are having two central midfielders – Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka. Aaron Ramsey is good in attack but he is weak defensively. On the other hand, Xhaka is not very good inside the box. So signing Goretzka will be a huge boost to the Arsenal squad as they can find a good balance in the team with a good link up between the attack and defense.
So it is going to be a highly anticipating summer transfer window for the Arsenal fans if they can sign this German star footballer who will be able to hold the German legacy in Arsenal along with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac.
