Lia Wälti was dealt a harsh blow in a league game against Everton – a reckless foul by Agnes Beever-Jones left Wälti with a severe ankle injury. The showdown was in full swing with Arsenal ahead by four when the incident took place. Wälti was forced to leave the pitch, raising doubts about her readiness for the upcoming World Cup. Yet, despite the grave injury, it seems that Wälti’s chance to partake in the tournament ain’t in danger.
The dastardly deed done by Beever-Jones caused a heap of hurtin’ and forced Wälti to seek medical aid for a spell before being swapped out. The harm she’s sustained will keep her out of the game for ’bout six weeks, which means she won’t be playin’ with Arsenal for the rest of the season. The showdown was a tough one to witness, but I reckon there’s a glimmer of hope for her to make it to the World Cup.

Despite the ankle injury, Wälti’s still fixin’ to participate in the World Cup. Her message on Social Media read, “Thanks for the news. Football is a contact sport, unfortunately these injuries happen and are part of our game. There is no reason to hate or smear Agnes Beever-Jones.”
Furthermore, Beever-Jones done told us she’s sorry for what she done did and hopes that Wälti gets back on his feet real quick.
Wälti’s response to the injury shows her grit and fortitude. Instead of harping on the negativity of the foul, she chose to accentuate the rough-and-tumble nature of football and displayed compassion towards her adversary. This here optimistic outlook bodes well for her recovery and possible comeback just in time for the World Cup.
The Swiss football faithful are keepin’ their fingers crossed that their captain will heal up quick and lend a hand in their World Cup crusade down under in Australia and New Zealand.
