Arsenal earned themselves a draw against Liverpool on Saturday, never say never – They could have snatched the three points. Though overall it was an intense match, a fixture that never lets us down and it lived up to it again.
Though out of many impressive performances from individuals, Rio Ferdinand and Martin Keown singled-out one player in particular – Lucas Torreira.
Arsenal signed Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria in the summer and he just can turn out to be best signing of Unai Emery’s era.
The thing with Torreira is he knows that position,’ former Manchester United defender Ferdinand told BT Sport.
‘They’ve brought in many players to play in that position over the years to almost make things tick. But they were all pretenders.
‘Torreira is not someone who is going to split a defence with a pass. He’ll play the shorter passes to keep the momentum of the game going.
‘He wants to get on the ball so he can make the other plays like Ozil. He can shield and that’s an important role in a team like this that wants to attack’
Arsenal hero Keown added: ‘We used to use our midfielders as barriers. That’s what Torreira does. He could be the glue for this Arsenal team.’
Unai Emery was proud of the performance his team showcased and even the Spainard believed – Arsenal ‘maybe’ deserved the three points.
