Arsenal have been overly dependent on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goalscoring spree this season and if not for him, we’d probably be in the relegation zone by now. But, Arsenal targets were to achieve Champions League qualification – not Championship one.
And with European football looking unlikely (unless Arsenal win the Europa League), Aubameyang is looking to be shipped away from North-London for his good.
There are reports that Aubameyang has rather ended his contract extension talks with the Gunners which is complemented by Real Madrid tempting the Gabonese his dream move to the Santiago Bernabeau. If Pierre does not extend his contract he would be out of his deal with Arsenal in the summer of 2020, when he will be free to leave the club for nothing.
Arsenal are keen to extend Aubameyang’s stay at Arsenal though according to Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast – he has been stalling potential new deal and that has just escalated Real’s interest in him. Real Madrid are also desperate party over landing Pierre, despite statement signing of Luka Jovic last summer.
With recent contract history, Arsenal would certainly not want to get into another mess as it happened with Alexis Sanchez & Aaron Ramsey. And highlighting that, Real have possibly spoken to Aubameyang’s representatives over a possible January (or summer) move and involving Luka Jovic in the deal.
Madrid have floated the idea of using the Serbian as a bait to land Aubameyang. Now, Luka was Europe’s hottest prospect when he joined Spanish capital in the summer but has failed to make an impact as big as his hefty price-tag.
But Aubameyang to Real Madrid and Jovic arriving to Arsenal will serve as a win-win situation for both the parties, with the Gunners getting a highly talented young striker with huge potential & Aubameyang getting his dream move to Santiago Bernabeau. While Arsenal would also reduce their wage bill.
Though anything coming out of this is dependant on Pierre whether he extends his contract or not, and its believed to be waiting for club’s new permanent manager appointment before making any concrete decision.
