The North London Derby was full of controversies.. and Arsenal supporters all over the social media are calling both Tottenham’s goal should be disallowed.

The host dominated the proceedings with just 10 minutes on the clock with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s early penalty but Eric Dier leveled the tie when Christian Eriksen whipped over the free-kick for 1-1. But replays show, Dier was just offside and Mike Dean should not have allowed that goal.

Spurs second came four minutes later, when Son Heung-min had been brought down in the penalty area by Arsenal defender Rob Holding. Son did go down in the penalty box, but it was all without any intervention of opponents and surprisingly Arsenal had to pay with penalty.

Mark Clattenberg, probably one of Premier league’s best referee of all time, reacted to Tottenham goals ‘which should have been disallowed’.

“Mike Dean should not have allowed either of Tottenham’s goals,” Clattenburg writes in Monday’s Daily Mail. “Eric Dier was just offside when Christian Eriksen whipped over the free-kick for 1-1.

“And Son Heung-min dived for Spurs’ penalty. Rob Holding lunged into a tackle but made no contact with Son.

“But Dean deserves credit for spotting Jan Vertonghen’s handball for Arsenal’s penalty — and rightly sent him off for a foul on Alexandre Lacazette.”

Keith Hackett also gave his words to the controversy, writing in the Daily Telegraph, said, “On first view, I thought it was a penalty, as did Mike. Holding slides in front of his opponent and appears to catch him. Mike was excellently positioned, took his time and pointed to the spot.

“However, television replays showed Holding did not touch Son, with the Tottenham forward going to ground far too easily.”

Holding’s tackle was absurd, but it was neither careless nor reckless or of any excessive force as they are meant in the rules of the game and Hackett knows it.

“Holding’s challenge was desperate and, as a result, careless. He made no contact because Son took evasive action rather than because he took any care to avoid his opponent.”
