Arsenal forward officially moves to Brighton on loan

Agyemang-Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion Women have officially announced the loan signing of England international Michelle Agyemang from Arsenal. The move aims to bolster Brighton’s attack for the upcoming 2025/26 Women’s Super League campaign. Agyemang, a 19-year-old forward, is returning to Brighton after a successful initial loan spell. This second loan stint is intended to provide her with consistent first-team opportunities.

Michelle Agyemang’s return to Brighton follows a breakthrough summer where she played a crucial role in England’s Euro 2025 title defense. She will spend her second consecutive season with the Seagulls, hoping to replicate her previous success. During her initial loan, Agyemang impressed, leading to Brighton securing a record-breaking fifth-place league finish.

The loan move is designed to give Agyemang regular playing time. At Arsenal, competition for attacking positions is fierce. Alessia Russo, Beth Mead, Caitlin Foord, Stina Blackstenius, and new signing Olivia Smith are all vying for those spots.

Michelle Agyemang has been with Arsenal since she was six years old. She made her senior debut in November 2022. That debut was during a 4-0 WSL victory over Leicester City. She has played six times for the Gunners, scoring one goal. Her first loan to Brighton in 2024/25 saw her score five goals in 22 appearances. As a result, she earned a Rising Star nomination.

Her impressive club form translated into international success. She earned her first England cap in April 2025. She scored just 41 seconds after entering the game against Belgium. At Euro 2025, Agyemang stood out as a young talent. She scored late equalizers against Sweden and Italy. These goals helped England lift the trophy.

Despite limited playing time, Michelle Agyemang was named Young Player of the Tournament. She is also nominated for the prestigious women’s Kopa Trophy at this year’s Ballon d’Or. Subject to regulatory clearance, she is expected to lead Brighton’s attack this season. Brighton begins their WSL campaign at home against Aston Villa on September 7, live on Sky Sports.

This signing is a significant boost for Brighton. They aim to build on last season’s success with Agyemang. For the teenager, it’s a chance to showcase her talent. It’s also an opportunity to continue her development in top-flight football. Meanwhile, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has identified three key qualities the team displayed against Manchester United on Sunday.

Separately, Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has revealed two key factors that could cost the team this season despite their win over Manchester United.
