Moises Caicedo was subject to a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window with the Gunners pricing a club record bod to secure his services. The willingness to join was equally reciprocated by Caicedo as well when Caicedo, in a statement, expressed his pleasure at having secured Brighton a transfer sum that would set a new record and be used to further the club’s development. He went on to say that he thinks the supporters will understand why he wants to take advantage of such a great opportunity as playing for Arsenal.
It led to no where in winter though with Arsenal having to move for Jorginho, but that doesn’t mean Arsenal are out of the race to sign Moises Caicedo. It is said that despite Jorginho and the fact that Caicedo has signed a new deal since January – Arsenal are leading the race to sign the Ecuadorean international.
Brighton CEO Barber spoke on The beautiful game podcast recently and he was asked about Arsenal’s £70m bid for Caicedo in January, and he said: “It was only sufficient if they wanted half the player. Joking aside, we don’t provide numbers. It amuses us when we see numbers in the media because they’ve not come from us.”
Reading between the lines, this gives me kinda mixed signals & tells me there is a number that will persuade Brighton in the summer and more so, if another seventy or eighty million bid were to arrive – they may consider cashing in on him. Maybe Arsenal need to up the ante by adding ten or so million to the last bid.
Arsenal are also interested in Declan Rice, and he may come for a hefty price tag as well — now it’s about where does their love lie more…
Who do you think Arsenal will sign come summer? Declan Rice? Moises Caicedo? both? someone else?
