Arsenal trying to lure 20-year-old ex-Madrid talent away from Cesc Fabregas in Italy

Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing Como 1907 midfielder Nico Paz, who is currently managed by a former Gunner Cesc Fabregas, per TBR Football.

The 20-year-old is making a lot of noise due to his impressive performances for the Gli Azzurri after moving from Real Madrid this summer.

He played only 135 minutes in the first division at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, the Spanish-born prodigy has already received three starts at Como and is earning recognition at the international stage.

Paz is breaking it in the Italian league, and his stats highlight his impact on the recently promoted club this season. Among all the U-23s in the current Serie A, the midfielder has the most key passes (12), most assists (2), most big chances created (5), second in successive dribbles (12), and second in shots on goal (7).

He recently scored against Atalanta, an opponent that Arsenal were unable to break in their latest Champions League group stage match.

U-23 talent Paz also got his first Argentina call-up this week and participated in his first training session with the squad. Fabregas is impressed by the former Madrid star and has conveyed positive feedback to Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni.

It’s great to see the youngster getting the recognition he deserves, especially with the former Arsenal player giving him a thumbs-up.

The English giants will be tempted by the youngster’s interesting profile. The left-footed ace prefers to play as a number 10 but can also operate as a right-winger or a forward. Mikel Arteta loves versatility, and he might tell Edu Gaspar to go after the young lad.

However, they are not alone in this race. Chelsea have shown a keen interest in South American talents in recent years. Similarly, Spanish giants Madrid are exploring the possibility of re-signing him.

They have inserted a buyback clause close to €6 million and also a right to pocket 50% of the player’s future sales. Looking at his current form, Madrid will find it appealing to sign the player and sell him for a hefty fee next year.

A January move for Arsenal looks unlikely since the player won’t prefer to leave Como at a time when he is making great progress. But the youngster won’t face a shortage of suitors if he continues to pour high-quality football.

The North London outfit are planning things out with their academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri, and Paz could link up with him in the future. An Odegaard 2.0 in the making?
