Nicolas Pepe is about to join Turkish club Besiktas. According to the reports, a medical has already been booked for the winger.
Arsenal are finally on the verge of breaking up with Nicolas Pepe. The expensive Ivory Coast winger who allegedly joined the Gunners for £72m has been unsuccessful in repaying every penny spent on him.
Pepe since his arrival has contributed only 27 goals and 21 assists in a total of 112 appearances that he has made for the North Londoners in all competitions. Another player may be considered good according to the stats but Pepe is believed to have been unable to live up to the expectations.
The Ivorian had spent last season on loan at Nice where he accounted for eight goals and an assist in 28 games. Pepe was never a prospect of getting reinterrogated into the squad considering Saka’s dominance and with only one year left in his contract, Arsenal would rather not leave him for free.
For quite some time now, the Gunners have been trying to get rid of the winger but have consistently failed in getting a lucrative offer. Besiktas however have been assumed to match the required sum needed to lure Pepe away from London although the exact amount is yet to be known.
The North Londoners will be more than willing to sell the winger considering £200 million they have spent on getting the services of three new signings. Pepe will be joining the big names in former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and AC Milan winger Ante Rebic if he is to pen the contract.
Besiktas have been qualified for UEFA Europa Conference League where we may be able to get our eyes on the 28-year-old’s prowess yet again.
