French striker Olivier Giroud is better suited to Chelsea than to Arsenal, claims Premier League pundit Don Hutchison.
Giroud had another impressive performance for the Blues against Southampton on Sunday.
Chelsea comfortably took the three points at St. Mary’s with the Frenchman producing an excellent hold-up play letting the likes of Eden Hazard and Ross Barkley get on the score-sheet. He was subbed off with 20 minutes of play left for Alvaro Morata, who went on to score the third one.
After moving to Chelsea in January, Oli took some time to get his feet running under then Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, though he took no time to establish himself under Maurizio Sarri.
The former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchinson believes that Giroud is a better fit to Chelsea due to the presence of runners around him.
“The Chelsea runners are better than the Arsenal runners,” Hutchison told Premier League Today.
“It’s the same as France in the summer when he had Mbappe, Matuidi and Pogba,
“France played Australia in the first game in the World Cup with three front men when Giroud wasn’t in the side.
“The rotation was amazing, they were all rotating with each other but I was watching the game thinking the central midfield players haven’t got a clue what’s happening.
“No one was standing still. He changed it to bring Giroud through the middle and all of a sudden the quality players start bouncing little passes off him.
“The stat where he never had a shot in the World Cup was ridiculous but so what? He was great for everyone around him.”
Olivier Giroud, despite his impressive performances is yet to net this season but his output is letting Chelsea’s golden boy Eden Hazard find the net regularly.
