BREAKING: Ollie Watkins tells Aston Villa that he wants to join Arsenal

Watkins-Arsenal

Aston Villa are said to have reportedly rejected a £60 million bid from Arsenal for their star striker Ollie Watkins, however the Gunners appear determined to bring in a new centre forward in the ongoing winter transfer window and Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to return with an improved offer for the striker before the January transfer deadline.

The Gooners supporters (with Arteta) have been crying out for an out-and-out striker and are actively vying to bring in a new No. 9 due to injury to Gabriel Jesus, complemented by some underwhelming misses by Kai Havertz this season.

However, with Jhon Duran edging closer to a record move to Al-Nassr, Unai Emery is reluctant to lose another striker, making any potential deal for Watkins difficult. Since joining from Brentford in 2020, Watkins has become a key figure in Unai Emery’s high-flying Villa squad, making a move mid-season highly unlikely unless Arsenal were to submit an irresistible bid.

Now, in an exclusive by Arsenal Fanatic News on their Patreon, Watkins has told the chiefs at Villa Park that he wants to join Arsenal. This could be interesting given he can push for a possible move behind the scenes, and the Gunners can work out the details with the chiefs in a way where a deal could still be made this winter.

Watkins is a boyhood Arsenal supporter, and he would love an opportunity to play for the badge that he and his family grew up gunning for.
