Pedro Neto takes Wolves stance that complicates Arsenal pursuit

Pedro-Neto-Arsenal

Arsenal are expected to conclude on signing Mikel Merino soon, and the Gunners are set to turn their heads to bolster their offensive options, with Wolves winger Pedro Neto already being considered as a potential option at the Emirates Stadium.

Edu has started to get his summer window up and running over the past week or so, as the club’s number one target, Riccardo Calafiori, arrived from Bologna and Mikel Merino is expected to make the move from Real Sociedad soon. However, supporters have been worried about running Bukayo Saka to ground, and Mikel Arteta has been looking at potential back-ups to the England starboy.

Initially, Arsenal have been linked with three wingers. German ace Leroy Sane, Euro 2024 winner Nico Williams, and Portuguese roadrunner Pedro Neto.

Bayern would not let Sane leave unless they signed an ideal replacement for his services. With Bayern’s prime target Xavi Simons moving to RB Leipzig, the possibility of signing the former Manchester City winger looks bleak at the moment.

Nico Williams is another option; however, his crazy wage demand would be enough for the Gunners to sail away from his signature.

Will Arsenal gamble on injury-prone Pedro Neto?

Neto has been a long-term target at the Emirates Stadium, and he could just be the guy Mikel Arteta is looking for. However, despite links to a Wolves exit, the winger’s recent comments suggest that he is not looking for a move away from Molineux this summer.

When asked about a potential Wolves exit this summer, the 24-year-old said, “I love this club; I’m really happy to be here and take this team to another level.”

Albeit, despite these comments, if the Gunners are serious about procuring his services, these words wouldn’t stop them. Though Wolves would demand hefty fees for one of their best players, considering his injury record, the Gunners might look somewhere else.

He is initially looked at as a rotational option to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, and he could provide that at high stakes, which would help Arsenal manage his work load.

However, for that money, is he a risk worth taking?
