According to reports from SkySports, Arsenal starlet Emile Smith-Rowe is all set to join RB Leipzig on loan for the rest of the season.
The teenager flew to Germany yesterday and is introduced to clubs’ facilities ahead of his medical and other formalities today.
The arrival of Denis Suarez at the Emirates has allowed Arsenal to let Emile Smith Rowe depart on loan until the end of the season.
Leipzig will pay something in excess of £1million to loan Smith Rowe until the summer, a fee that could fluctuate in green based on his performances.
Smith Rowe has only featured once in the League this term although he has couple of appearances in Europa League and once in FA Cup and Carabao Cup as well.
Arsenal are already reaping the benefits of Bundesliga’s commitment to youth development after on going successful loan spell of Reiss Nelson to with Hoffenheim. The English starlet, 19, has scored six goals in 13 league appearances for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
“Some Bundesliga clubs are very interesting for us and the way [Nelson] could make an impact at Hoffenheim was by starting on the bench but then scoring immediately,” academy chief Per Mertesacker said in December.
“Through scoring those goals, he gained trust from the coach, from the fans, by learning some German and earning the right to start and make an impact.
“I think he has done a brilliant job but that all fell into place because he wanted to go. He had a great opportunity but you need to take these opportunities and make sure you learn from those moments. Instead of being a first-team player between the under-23s and the first team, this is something different.
“It’s difficult to manage and I’m really pleased and glad that it’s worked right now for him. We have other prospects we really need to think about. What’s their best path towards making an impact for our first team? There are different ways, different challenges.”
Emile Smith-Rowe is one if the most highly rated youngsters in England and Arsenal would love to give him some first team minutes under his belt and developing him into a beast.
