Reiss Nelson future at Arsenal is hanging by a thread as Bayer Leverkusen emerge as strong contenders for his permanent transfer.
Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has reportedly expressed his desire to depart the club permanently amid interest from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. As per reports from Football Transfers, Nelson has told manager Mikel Arteta that he wishes to leave for the German side, who won the league title for the first time in their history last season.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan at fellow Premier League side Fulham for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign. He has made 10 appearances for the Cottagers so far, scoring twice and providing one assist as well. The player was compelled to leave the Gunners albeit on loan after being unable to make a place for himself among the regular starting group.
A Hale End academy product, Reiss Nelson’s future at the club seems uncertain given the situation with playing time, meaning he could be tempted to seek new opportunities.
Bayer Leverkusen express Reiss Nelson transfer interest
As per the aforementioned report from Football Transfers, Nelson reached out to Mikel Arteta personally to inform him of his desire to leave Arsenal permanently. The reasoning behind this is the player’s wish to establish himself as a first-team regular at a club that can guarantee him a regular playing role from the start.
Aged just 24, Nelson has plenty of years of football at the top level in him and he will look to make the most of it. Leverkusen are not the only club interested, with FC Union Berlin also keen on acquiring the player from north London.

A two-footed player gifted with incredible technical ability and dribbling skills, Nelson has waited for a long time to make a mark with Arsenal. However, with other players always being preferred ahead of him, seeking a move to a club where he can play regularly and not worry about his future seems like the best move.
