Shkodran Mustafi’s time at Arsenal has been sort of Sturm und Drang, with muddled patches complemented by honey fall and later being the case since Mikel Arteta took over the reigns.
The German defender joined Arsenal for £35 million back in 2016 from Valencia, still a bolt from the blue for the Gunners faithful who had alot of expectations from the former Everton man when he stepped on at the Emirates.
And former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas professed that players like Shkodran Mustafi are ‘not cut out’ for Arsenal.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “We have a problem with identifying players. Then what we did is we started paying £30 million, £40m for Mustafi and defenders who in all honesty, no disrespect to them it’s only my opinion, are not cut out for Arsenal and have not been good enough.”
There is an adequate likelihood that Shkodran would not be at the Emirates cometh the next campaign, yet there also is a decent possibility that he’d stay at N5 because every player was handed a clean slate when Mikel Arteta walked in and Mustafi, like Granit Xhaka for instance, has improved since then.
