Arsenal fans, keep an eye on Matheus Cunha. After catching their interest in the summer, the Wolves striker is back on the Gunners’ radar — and for good reason.
Arsenal will look to revive their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) forward Matheus Cunha, whom they showed strong interest in during the summer transfer window. With Mikel Arteta and the club’s hierarchy keen on adding to the squad’s attacking firepower, it was surprising seeing the club not recruit any new striker in the summer.
Now, Cunha has re-emerged on the club’s radar amid consistently strong performances for Wolves. Despite the club struggling in 19th place in the Premier League, Cunha has come up with five goals and two assists in 11 appearances so far this season.
A two-footed player who can play as a lone striker or in a partnership with another player, Cunha is a potent finisher in and around the 18-yard box. He is also blessed with pace and the ability to beat a defender with his moves, which would make him a big asset for the Gunners.
However, will Arsenal move for Matheus Cunha in January or next summer?
Matheus Cunha: Arsenal in dilemma over move for Wolves striker
Arsenal have been interested in the Brazilian forward since he was at Atletico Madrid. In fact, they were in the race to sign Matheus Cunha until he joined Wolves on loan in January 2023.
Signed by Wolves for £44 million from Atletico Madrid after his loan spell made it obligatory to purchase, Cunha has been impressive for the club in his short time. In 68 games for the team so far, Cunha has scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists. His tally of seven goal contributions this season has been in vain but the player continues to look for ways to pull his team out of the relegation zone.

Now, Arsenal will have a decision to make with the January window edging closer. With a fee of £63 million being reported as the asking fee from Wolves, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners take the leap in the winter or the summer transfer window.
