Petr Cech has started every game for Arsenal this season although the veteran looked shaky playing from the back. Arsenal acquired the services of German international Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, who is desperately waiting in the wings to make his Arsenal debut.
Unai Emery has made it clear that he want to play from the back and from the first match against Manchester City, Petr has looked shaky providing the balls to his centre backs. Former Chelsea man almost gifted a goal to Cardiff City last week and former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the experienced ace should face the chop in favor of Leno.
Robinson is baffled by Cech’s decision to bow to his manager’s wishes and try on something what he is not comfortable with at the dusk of his legendary career.
“As a goalkeeper I don’t understand,” Robinson said on beIN SPORTS.“He’s under pressure to play from his manager, I’ve been in that situation before.
“But there are certain situations in a game where you just have to put your foot through a ball.
“There’s certain times where you cannot play, you’re putting yourself and your team under more pressure by trying to play.
“Petr Cech is not one of the most comfortable goalkeepers with the ball at his feet anyway and I think he’s been asked to do something he’s not comfortable with.
“I don’t know why he just doesn’t put his foot through the ball.”
Robinson believes it’s only a matter of time before Leno gets the nod ahead of Cech.
