SAME OLD! SAME OLD!
Arsenal managed another of their dramatic away loss where you could just feel lack of belief, mentality, want, intensity – about everything as Unai Emery’s side couldn’t see off newly promoted Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane.
Doesn’t it quite seem we are back into the late Wenger days, where noting seemed under control and you could feel that? It took Wenger twenty years to achieve that feat, Emery has quite successfully done that in two years.
One of the Manchester United lads from their old Furgeson ‘glory days’ has launched a damning assessment of our mentality and labelled us “babies” after losing 1-0 to Sheffield United. Well, I couldn’t agree more with Patrice Evra about tonight.
They didn’t only lose to just promoted Sheffield, the Gunners also missed out on the chance to move up to MUCH TALKED third in the Premier League.
In an attack to Unai Emery’s side, Evra also took aim at Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka, & also recalled a tale where he welcomed Robin van Persie to a “man’s club” (which sounded pretty optimistic, maybe he doesn’t know his United are lagging fourteenth in the League with Ole’s wheel oiling out or maybe the tire of the whole bus bursting apart)
Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Evra said: “First of all, I’m really happy for Sheffield. They deserved the win, but I’m not surprised about Arsenal. I used to call them my babies 10 years ago and they’re still, when I look at them, my babies and that’s the truth. I’m not being disrespectful when I say that, it’s just the feeling I’ve got with this team.
“They look pretty, they look good, but they don’t look like a winning team. They’re just here playing good football.
“When I looked at Arsenal, I was so happy to play against Arsenal because I knew I was going to win. Even when Robin van Persie came, and the first time I shook his hand, I said ‘welcome to a man’s club’. At the beginning he was upset but after one month he said, ‘you’re completely right, Patrice’ and that’s my feeling.
“Guendouzi, he’s playing the best in midfield, but he’s a player who was playing in the second league in France and even then he was not playing regularly and he’s the best player on this team.
“I know some legends, they are fuming when they see that Xhaka is the captain of Arsenal.
“I respect them, Aubameyang and Lacazette, but you can see that if those guys don’t score goals they are in trouble and nothing has changed.
“I’m like ‘where is Arsene? Where is Wenger?’ It’s the same!”
And as everyone know we have heck of a leader in Granit (yes, I’m being sarcastic) Xhaka, Evera went on blabbing about lack of leadership and Arsenal being mentally “weak”.
He added: “It’s not just about the back four, what is wrong with Arsenal. I don’t see any leadership, I don’t see any personality, any character. They look weak, mentally. I say if they don’t score a goal, they will definitely lose the game.
“I don’t want to talk about just the back four, it is the whole team. They have big players. David Luiz, Aubameyang, Lacazette, but it’s something and it’s been for a few years now.
“When I say they are like my babies people think I’m being disrespectful, but it’s my feeling and they just confirmed that again tonight.”
