Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s situation is quite shameful as the Armenian cannot represent Arsenal in Europa League finals against Chelsea held in BAKU, as the club confirmed his omission today.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery breaks his silence on Micki missing European finals, suggesting he respects Micki’s decision about not making trip to Azerbaijan next week.
Although, UEFA did hit back at Arsenal for leaving Mkhitaryan out of Europa League squad despite assuring full safety about his traveling and stay.
But Emery admits he understands Mkhitaryan’s decision not to travel with the squad.
‘It is bad news but we cannot do anything for these issues,’ said Emery.
‘It is a very, very personal decision and we need to respect him.
‘We have to understand the political problems.
‘I spoke to him. I came from the Basque country and we had also a big political problem in our country, finishing five, six years ago and I can understand this decision is very, very personal.
‘I cannot push him to come with us.’
