Arsenal and other elite clubs are on high alert after knowing Swedish superstar Viktor Gyokeres’s asking price. Sporting CP’s decision to slash his transfer valuation has suddenly made this race even more interesting to watch.
The 26-year-old striker is one of the hottest properties in world football right now and is scoring goals for fun in Portugal.
No doubt, all big clubs are now keeping an eye on him after his stunning hattrick against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League game last night. He is only the fifth player to score a hattrick vs. a Pep Guardiola side.
The striker now has 23 goals to his name in just 17 games this season (five goals in four Champions League matches). He has almost scored one goal per game since moving to Sporting from Coventry for just £16.8 million last year.

Gyokeres has firmly established himself as one of the most sought-after attackers in the transfer market. Hence, all the biggies are now ready to make him their key transfer target next year.

Their pursuit has received a huge boost as there is a gentleman’s agreement between the player and the club, meaning that he can leave for a desired fee.
How much will Gyokeres cost?
Although the former Championship star has a €100 million (£83 million) release clause in his contract, which expires in 2028, Sporting are still open to listening to offers in the range of £63m, as per the Telegraph.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Man City, Chelsea, and other top European clubs are circling the in-form attacker. United links are growing even stronger due to Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford.
The manager was asked about his prized asset’s future after their top display vs. Man City and he said:
“If I start joking about this Gyokeres situation, I’ll get in trouble. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season, and then his life will probably go somewhere else.”
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer also showered praise on the Sporting ace, stating that his solid all-round display has added more value to his transfer fee. Speaking to Amazon Prime Commentary, he said:
“With numbers like that absolutely. He’s just put another £40 million on his price tag as well.”
The powerful striker won’t have any problem staying at his current club, but the chance to move to a club like Arsenal is too hard to resist. After all, even Mikel Arteta will relish the chance to have a striker who can score bangers every game.
He possesses phenomenal finishing skills, solid build, technical intelligence, makes clever runs in the box, and links up perfectly with the midfielders. There are goals in his veins, and a club like Arsenal will welcome him with open arms.

There will be a lot of proposals on the table for the talented striker, but which one will he choose? It remains to be seen whether he moves to Arsenal or follows Amorim to Man United.
