The latest reports have claimed that Premier League side Arsenal is looking to offer Pierre Emerick Aubameyang a staggering new deal in order to fend off interest from the Far East.
On a personal level, Aubameyang has been a consistent goalscorer for Arsenal ever since his €63.7 million transfer move from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund back in January 2018. At the end of this season, Aubameyang managed to win the Golden Boot award as he netted 22 goals in the Premier League sharing the accolades with Liverpool duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
However, despite his scintillating form for the Gunners, Aubameyang did not manage to win any silverware with Arsenal as the North London side was humiliated by local London rivals Chelsea in the final of the Europa League. The 30-year-old forward will also not be playing Champions League football as Arsenal failed to qualify for the Elite European tournament.
The Gabon forward is reportedly frustrated and dejected at Arsenal due to the lack of trophies and is even considering a move to China in order to earn plenty of money before his career ends. Chinese Super League duo of Shanghai SIPG and Guangzhou Evergrande are the two clubs interested in snapping up a deal for Aubameyang and offer his incredible wage rates.
Aubameyang still has two years left on his Arsenal contract which expires in 2021 but Unai Emery’s side is prepared to offer the prolific forward a £100,000 a week pay rise on his current £190,000 a week salary in order for Aubemeyang to sign an extension and fend off interest from Chinese suitors.
This is quite a strange ploy by Arsenal because they did not agree to offer Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey a rise in pay and Aubameyang is already past 30 years of age so it is somewhat of a questionable decision.
