Arsenal are said to be dry in the market and have been for sometime now and hearing rumours about big cash splashes are always very phantasmagoric and erratic. Then comes in the links with Sporting winger Joelson complemented by heck load of money (€45 million, specifically) involved over a possibility to bring him at the Emirates in the upcoming summer.
But Portuguese newspaper A Bola are here to make the Gunners faithful to buy into these fanciful rumours as their paper today headlined, “Arsenal will really give €45m for Joelson”.
Mikel Arteta side are said to be ‘crazy’ about the Portuguese, and are consenting to trigger his release clause. Sporting reportedly want to fixate his release clause at €100m (from €45m), something his father Eusébio and his agent Kia Joorabchian are against but extending his contract with Estádio José Alvalade looks very unlikely and A Bola claims that there are several meetings where Arsenal ‘intensified’ their interest in the 17-year-old.
Arsenal have privileged contacts in bid to bring in Joelson as due to their regards of Kia Joorabchian, whose influence at the Emirates is increasingly growing. And it’s said that an offer is expected in coming days.
Arsenal see huge potential in Joelson and don’t want to miss out any chances of bringing in a potential world class player after missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.
Triggering his release clause means Arsenal will get better of the likes of Barcelona and Juventus.
The Gunners will table a five-year contract for Joelson alongside a promise to hand him a place in first team right away.
Joelson only made his debut for Sporting this month, and has only played 63 minutes for the first team so far.
