After a pretty unsuccessful season in this year’s Premier League, where Arsenal have currently found themselves in 9th position in the points table with 49 points to their name, in which they have lost 13 and drawn 7 of their total games this season. Mikel Arteta will look to add some power and depth to his squad and will look to bring in some fresh talent into the mix in the post-season transfer market. One such talent that Arteta and the Gunners have their eye on is Derby County’s young left-back Lee Buchanan.
Arsenal are looking to raise their funds for this season’s summer transfer market through player sales and are looking to bring in some new players for the new season and one such recruit is Derby’s Lee Buchanan as Arsenal have shown keen interest towards the player and are looking to bring the youngster to the Emirates Stadium.
For now, Arsenal have Kieran Tierney for the left-back position, who was sidelined in most of the games due to his injuries and due to him missing most of the games this season, and because Sead Kolasinac is no longer a part of Arteta’s plans, he was loaned out to FC Schalke in January and now, he is very likely expected to be sold when he returns to the club. So because of that, Arteta was forced to play Cedric Soares in that position, but he failed and then, Granit Xhaka was put in that position which eventually worked for Mikel Arteta but for the time being.
This shows that Arteta is short on players and Arsenal doesn’t have a strong bench to back the team-up. So, a young player like Lee Buchanan can be a great resource for Arteta and his team.

Lee Buchanan is a 20-year old English player who plays in the left-back position for Derby County F.C. He first joined the Derby County’s youth academy in 2010 and have been in the club since then. He came through the ranks and made his first-team debut on August 2019. Since then, he has made 43 senior appearances for the East Midlands club.
However, this season has been the break-through season for him as the 20-year old Englishman have gone on to make 34 first-team appearances in which 28 of them have been in the starting XI and also have made 3 assists during the season. Ram’s boss Wayne Rooney is all of the praises for the 20-year old as he has regarded him as “one of the best young left-backs in the country”. He said; “He’s a top, top player. I’d argue he’s one of the best young left-backs in the country. And he can go to another level as well….no….he’s a real top player.”
His current contract with the Rams is expected to expire by 2022. So, unless he signs for an extension in his contract, Derby’s cannot do much at this moment and Arsenal will look to get the player to the Emirates Stadium by making a significant offer to the East Midlands club.
Lee Buchanan is an incredible talent and a player with high caliber and to get such big praises by the legend himself tells a lot about his bright future and what a fantastic player he can become if trained and given proper attention. Therefore, it is up to Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal club in general to make the move for the player and what the future hold for him at Arsenal.
