The Premier League is no stranger to seeing an Egyptian superstar tearing it apart week in and week out for the past few seasons. Mohamed Salah’s impact at Liverpool has been significant and he is arguably the most consistent attacker alongside Harry Kane to have played in the Premier League in the past half a decade.
At 32, Salah continues to go strong, although he might not have long left at the top of the game. The emergence of Cole Palmer of Chelsea and Bukayo Saka at Arsenal has also seen him lose some sheen, considering the youngsters have just that bit more energy to keep it going through the course of 38 games in a season.
Saka in particular, has been so consistent for Arsenal for three seasons now. He has emerged as one of the best right-wingers in the world and it is sometimes easy to forget that he is still just 23 years old, considering the quality he possesses. Arsenal are blessed to have him, as seen in the weekend in the 3-1 win over Southampton.
However, it has now emerged that there is another Egyptian star-in-the-making who is caught in a Premier League battle between Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. Should the Gunners sign him, they might be bringing one of the biggest African talents to the country. The player in question here is Omar Marmoush.
Omar Marmoush – following in the footsteps of Mo Salah
Marmoush plays his football for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. To say that the 25-year-old has taken a step forward in his game so far this season would be an understatement. In nine games so far this season, across all competitions, Marmous has scored nine times and provided six assists, totalling 15 goal contributions.
Capable of playing in all three positions across the front line, Marmoush’s rise this season isn’t coincidental. He has been showing flashes of becoming this player for quite some time now and finally, he has managed his breakthrough. This has understandably prompted interest from the above-mentioned Premier League giants.
Should Arsenal sign Marmoush, it would be a very smart addition to their forward line. It helps that the Egyptian is versatile and can provide cover in all three positions. Going forward, he could also make the left wing his own or even convince Arteta that he deserves to play down the middle.
With a contract until 2027 with Frankfurt, Marmoush won’t come cheap. Much like Salah when he joined Liverpool, he is at the perfect age to make the transition to a club like Arsenal and this is a signing that would make a lot of sense for the club. Let’s wait and see if they get it done in the upcoming transfer window.
