Striker situation heating up at Arsenal as €100m decision looms

Ekitike-Arsenal

Arsenal are expected to bring in a new centre-forward this summer, and all signs point toward a significant move at the top end of the pitch.

While Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz have admirably led the line at times this season, and Gabriel Jesus was once tipped as the missing piece, it’s become increasingly clear: this squad needs a specialist number nine to take the next step.

Enter the latest twist — a high-performing talent in Germany is firmly on the radar.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has enjoyed a breakout season in the Bundesliga, notching up 22 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances. The Frenchman, still only 22, joined Frankfurt on a permanent deal after an initial loan, and has quickly become one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe.

According to Christian Falk via CaughtOffside, both Arsenal and Liverpool have made their interest known — and Frankfurt are already preparing for life without him.

“It is true! Arsenal and Liverpool want Hugo Ekitike,” Falk said.
“Frankfurt assume the striker will leave at the end of the season… €100 million is the price tag.”

That valuation mirrors the kind of statement signing Arsenal have avoided in recent years — but this summer could be different, with Andrea Berta actively pushing for a marquee addition up front.

Where does Ekitike stand among Arsenal’s striker shortlist?

Here’s how Ekitike stacks up statistically against the names most heavily linked with Arsenal:

Alexander Isak2540276
Benjamin Sesko2143216

Ekitike’s numbers are promising — particularly at his age — but he trails behind Gyokeres and Isak, both of whom are producing elite-level attacking output in top-tier leagues.

What makes this intriguing?

There’s no doubt Ekitike is a high-upside prospect, with fluid movement, smart link-up play, and natural goal instincts. But if Arsenal want someone to walk into the team and score 30 goals, they may lean toward a player with more immediate Premier League readiness.

Then again, Berta’s long-term planning — and Mikel Arteta’s coaching track record — might mean Arsenal back the Frenchman’s potential over pedigree.

And if Frankfurt truly demand €100 million, Arsenal will need to be absolutely convinced.
