Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an enquiry to sign 19-year-old Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel amid interest from other clubs. The Premier League outfit will look to sign the French teenager as rumours that departing Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar could take over at Forest in the same capacity.

As a result of the rumoured move, club owner Evangelos Marinakis is looking to bring some exciting talent to the City Ground. Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has also reported that the likes of Werder Bremen are also interested in Tel, but the youngster has expressed his desire to stay and fight for his place.

Mathys Tel has made just seven appearances across competitions for Bayern Munich this season, totaling up to 224 minutes overall. Forest, who have been a surprise package in the Premier League this season have offered the player an outlet which he could consider.

Under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, the club are currently flying high as they sit in third place behind Liverpool (25 pts) and Manchester City (23 pts) with 19 points from 10 games. Not only has their league position been a surprise, Forest also boasts the second-best defensive record in the league after leaders Liverpool.

The squad also provides a great environment for young attackers to flourish, with the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga already making a mark with Forest.

The club are currently in a great position to establish themselves as Premier League regulars, having been promoted ahead of the 2022-23 season. They were agonizingly close to being relegated back to the EFL Championship with a 16th placed finish in their first season, followed by a 17th placed finish in the 2023-24 season. However, this season there is a different energy at the club.

Arsenal have lost one of their leaders in Edu Gaspar, who Marinakis is rumoured to be interested in bringing to the City Ground. The Brazilian would take over as Sporting Director and would bring with him years of experience with the Gunners in building up the squad and making them competitive again.

While the outcome of both the moves remain unclear as of now, Nottingham Forest seem to be heading in a positive direction.
