Arsenal could offer Jakub Kiwior to AC Milan as part of a deal to bring unsettled winger Samuel Chukwueze to north London this January.
Arsenal are looking to step up their pursuit of their winger targets in the upcoming transfer window and will look to get ahead of their competition by making some wise moves. As per reports from Milan Live, the Gunners could use defender Jakub Kiwior as makeweight in a deal to acquire winger Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan. The Nigerian is valued around €20 million by the Italian club and could be a valuable addition to the north Londoners’ squad.
Despite joining Milan just a few months ago, Chukwueze has been unable to establish himself in the first team. He has also lost his productivity that was on display during his time with Villarreal, scoring six and assisting four goals in 54 games for his new club. As a result, rumours have gone around that the player is unsettled at the club and could look for a challenge elsewhere.
Arsenal offering Jakub Kiwior could also sweeten the deal for the Gunners as the Polish defender is unhappy with his lack of game time in London. With the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori from Genoa this summer, as well as Jurrien Timber’s return from long-term injury, Kiwior has been pushed further down the pecking order. This could lead to the Pole wanting to depart the club.
How the transfer benefits both clubs
For AC Milan
Should Kiwior move to Milan, it is unlikely he would become a starter at the San Siro either. This is due to players like Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia being ahead of him in the pecking order. The team plays more of an attacking style of play which requires the center backs to be quick and powerful – two traits which Kiwior lacks. He would most likely become an option off the bench for Paulo Fonseca and his team.
For Arsenal
Chukwueze, on the other hand, would be used as a rotation player by Mikel Arteta at least in the player’s first season. Both Gabriel Martinelli on the left, and Bukayo Saka on the right, deserve periods of rest and signing a fresh and relatively young winger could help the Spaniard rest his starters more.
