Arsenal faces Olympiacos in a crucial Champions League tie at the Emirates Stadium. However, preparations have been disrupted by the absence of Piero Hincapie and Noni Madueke from recent training sessions. The Gunners aim to continue their strong form in the competition, despite these injury concerns. This match is a significant test for Mikel Arteta‘s squad depth and tactical flexibility.

Two important Arsenal players were notably missing from first-team training ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Olympiacos. The game marks Arsenal’s return to the Emirates Stadium against the Greek side. The last time these two teams met at the Emirates, Olympiacos secured a victory in the Europa League back in March 2021.

Arsenal progressed through that Europa League tie 3-2 on aggregate. However, the current situation is different. Arsenal is now considered among the top teams in world football. They are also seen as one of the favorites to win the Champions League this year.

Arsenal’s preparations have been impacted by several injury concerns. Two first-team players were absent from the open section of training on Tuesday morning. This occurred as the team completed their final preparations for the Wednesday game. Piero Hincapié was one of the players missing from Tuesday’s session.

The Ecuadorian defender is currently battling a groin issue. He made his Arsenal debut as a substitute in the Champions League match against Athletic Club. However, the groin injury has kept him sidelined ever since.

Noni Madueke absent due to knee injury

Noni Madueke was also absent from training. He is dealing with a knee injury. Madueke joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window from Chelsea in a £48 million deal. However, the knee injury is expected to keep him out for several weeks. As a result, both players are unavailable for selection.

Arsenal added eight players to Mikel Arteta’s first team squad last summer with one of them already keen on leaving the club this January

The absence of Piero Hincapié and Noni Madueke presents a challenge for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta will need to adjust his lineup and strategy to compensate. The depth of the squad will be tested as Arsenal aims to secure a vital win in the Champions League and one Arsenal player is allegedly seeking a January exit.
