Burnley manager Scott Parker has publicly defended Arsenal‘s playing style amidst ongoing debate. Parker’s comments come ahead of Burnley’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at Turf Moor. He calls the Gunners “an unbelievably well-coached team,” praising their overall tactical approach.
Arsenal currently lead the Premier League standings. Despite their strong position, some critics have suggested the team overly relies on set-pieces. Parker’s assessment offers a counterpoint, emphasizing the Gunners’ broader strengths.
Scott Parker praises Arsenal’s fluidity and tactical intelligence
Parker dismissed the idea that Arsenal’s success hinges solely on set-piece goals. He highlighted their structure, fluidity, and tactical intelligence. Parker noted that while set-pieces have been crucial in key moments, they are just one element of Arsenal’s game.
“I’m not sure I see it like that,” Parker stated. “When I’m watching them, to be honest with you, I see a fluid team really. I see an unbelievably well-coached team, a team that solves situations. Of course, there’s one of many elements – but I would say this is definitely not a team that just relies on set-plays.”
He continued, “This is a well-oiled and functional team that are very fluid in the way they play, really. Defensively, like you say, is really a foundation…But, yeah, for me, like I said, this is a top, top team and a well-coached team.”
Parker further credited Mikel Arteta’s attention to detail. He sees this as a defining factor in Arsenal’s impressive start to the Premier League season. Parker believes the level of detail in Arsenal’s game is evident when watching them.
“Maybe I see it a little bit different,” Parker added. “When you’re watching teams and you see the level of detail that’s gone into certain parts of their game, it’s very, very evident where those details are.”
He emphasized, “I think full credit to Mikel because, like I said, there are a lot of facets to a game of football…and they’re ticking a lot of boxes.”
Arsenal Face Challenge Against Parker’s Burnley
Parker acknowledged the significant challenge his Burnley side faces against the Premier League leaders. His comments reflect an admiration for how Arteta has developed Arsenal. He sees them as one of the Premier League’s most complete and tactically refined teams.
Parker’s analysis arrives as Arsenal aim to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League. The Gunners will look to showcase their all-around abilities, proving they are more than just a threat from set-pieces. The upcoming match against Burnley will be a test of their continued progress.
