Gabriel Martinelli is set to earn up to €28 million a year at Al Hilal, according to transfer insider Franchise, an eye-watering salary that goes a long way to explaining why the Brazilian’s stance on a Saudi move has shifted so dramatically this summer.

Why the numbers make sense of Martinelli’s change of heart
It’s the kind of figure that puts Arsenal’s current internal situation with Martinelli into sharper focus. He’s already been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer, and having reportedly rejected interest from Saudi Arabia earlier in the window, a salary on this scale changes the calculation entirely. C
ombined with his diminished role under Mikel Arteta, it’s easy to see why his family and representatives are now taking the possibility seriously rather than dismissing it outright.

No agreement between Arsenal and Al Hilal has been finalised yet, and personal terms haven’t been formally agreed either, but a wage of this size gives Al Hilal a genuinely powerful card to play as talks continue.
