It is fair to say that Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United has been everything but convincing. Unplayable at its best. Laughing stock at its worst. That £89.3 million fee looks like a ridiculous amount for a player who was brought to bring back the glory days. On the other hand, there is Aaron Ramsey, the Welsh wizard who keeps on giving vital contributions every now and then.
Aaron Ramsey came on as a sub to provide two crucial assists against spurs, a game that highlighted arsenals improvement under Unai Emery. But it is still a work in progress for them. Whereas Paul Pogba and his United came back to rescue a point against Southampton having been 2 goals down and Mourinho needs to get it to spot on against The Gunners, if he has to prevent them from piling more misery on his side.
Though things haven’t been easy for them. An under-performing pre-season was followed by a slow start and some humiliating results.
And not to forget the training ground bust up between José and Pogba. Jose even questioned the French midfielder’s ability to lead after stripping Pogba from captaincy. Several other sarcastic jibes and comments by Mourinho fueled rumours surrounding The Frenchman’s future at the club.
There were even reports claiming either of Jose or Paul will be shown the door. But all those high tides have been settled for now and it’s now upto both of them to salvage United’s season and thereby their future at the club!
Talking about Aaron Ramsey, he has been quite influential for Emery, scoring once and providing 6 assists while averaging a mere 44 minutes per game. Having confirmed his departure at the end of the season, not many expected Ramsey to play a pivotal role in Emery’s plan.
AFTV: AARON RAMSEY WAS SUPERB VS TOTTENHAM
Yet as things stand, Ramsey is the top assist provider this season. Pogba on the other hand was expected to lead United towards a firm title challenge this season having finished runners up to City last season. But things haven’t worked out well for both Pogba as well as United. After 14 games, the Red Devils sit 7th in the league, 16 points behind arch rivals Manchester City and 8 points behind Arsenal in fourth. With a negative GD, The Reds from Manchester are closer to the relegation zone than they are to City.
Here’s a head to head between Ramey and Pogba:
On 6th of December, when one of the premier leagues oldest rivalries is reignited, the opportunity of proving their worth will take centre stage.
Can Pogba lead united out of the crisis or can Ramsey prove his worth once again?
