A sneak Peak at the rumoured managerial candidates

Arsenal have been dismal, to say the least, this season. It’s now 51 days, that’s nearly 2 months, since Arsenal last won a Premier League game. The long awaited news, that Unai Emery has been relieved of his duties, finally came. Now Arsenal will begin to hunt for a new gaffer, with Freddie Lujungberg filling in on an interim basis. As rumours of potential managers keep swirling, let’s take a look at some of the names being thrown about;

MIKEL ARTETA

This name just keeps coming, could it be destiny? Before Unai Emery took over at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta was favourite to take the job, it only looked like a matter of time before he took over until the board made a late U-Turn to hire the former PSG manager.

Arteta is relatively unproven, he has yet to be a senior manager in his young career, he’d be considered a big gamble, but so will every other appointments anyways.

Arteta has been at the club, he’s captained the club, he knows what’s its like to be here. He has also sat under one of the best managers ever, so basically, he has played under one of Arsenals greatest ever managers and sat under one of the best managers ever in Pep Guardiola, he’d really be dumb not to have learnt a thing or two. If ever there’s a gamble of this sought worth taking, its this.

MAURICIO POCHETTINO

Who could have thought? Just a few weeks ago, I’d have been considered really daft to have written this, but that’s not the case anymore.

Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks ago. Barely days after his departure, rumours began to swirl around that Arsenal were interested in him. Now with Unai Emery out of the door, those rumours will only intensify.

Mauricio Pochettino, the man who used to lead our arch rival, could be leading us out when the first North London derby rolls around. Many have played down Mauricio Pochettino’s pedigree as a coach given the fact he is yet to taste silverware, but that is absolutely out of place.

With the shoestring budget he had at Tottenham and the calibre of players he had, you cannot really put that down to him. He also consistently got them in the UEFA Champions League, an obvious objective in the club for seasons now, he’s a Premier League proven manager who’d not need adaptation time, as that’s the last thing we have now. Pochettino may have coached Tottenham Hotspur, he may have gone trophyless all of his career but he certainly would be a master stroke of an appointment.

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO

This came out of the blues, no body anticipated the possibility of him being in running to take over at the Emirates, but according to the bookmakers, he is actually favourite to take over.

Nuno is yet to coach a club in the class or with the pedigree as big as Arsenal’s but accessing the work he has done with little to no budget at Wolves and with mostly average players, he has a very solid case to make when it comes to being the next permanent boss at Arsenal.

Having promoted wolves to the Premier League, he qualified them for Europe the next season, Nuno has done incredibly well to warrant a shout out.

Who ever Arsenal choose at long last, it’s imperative they make the right decision, Unai Emery proved to be a wrong appointment, we can’t afford another mistake.
