Arsenal could be close to making their first signing of the summer as reports have claimed that the Gunners have agreed on personal terms with Lorient attacker Alexis Claude Maurice.
Unai Emery made a great choice by deciding to sign Matteo Guendouzi from French club Lorient last summer as the midfielder has been quite impressive for Arsenal showing maturity beyond his age. And now the Gunners are close to completing another deal for a player from Lorient in the form of Alexis Claude Maurice.
The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks of Lorient and broke into the first team back in 2017. Last season, Alexis scored 14 goals and also notched up four assists in a very impressive campaign for the Ligue 2 outfit.
Alexis’ performances have not gone unnoticed as Arsenal is one of the few top clubs in the European continent that are looking to sign him this summer. Even Arsenal’s local London rivals West Ham United are keen on his signature but Lorient has reportedly rejected initial offers from both the English clubs.
However, Arsenal is reportedly set to announce the signing of the goalscoring French forward in the next few weeks after a €20 million bid. Alexis has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Arsenal and a move to the Emirates Stadium only seems like a few days away after the two clubs come to an agreement with each other.
Alexis Claude Maurice is capable of playing on either side of the flanks and through the middle as well but with Emery’s side lacking width in their attack, the young attacker could be operated on the wings.
