According to El Nacional, Arsenal are pondering a move for Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen in the January transfer window.
The Gunners splashed £80 million this summer as they made quality investments in vital areas of their squad. As per the Times, they are also targeting a young attacker and a defender next year.

Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala are considered top priorities next summer. The club will focus on a multi-faceted approach by bringing both short- and medium-term players into the market starting next year.
Arsenal to offer Andreas Christensen a chance to return back to England
As per Spanish outlets, the Gooners are also eyeing Danish international Christensen, whose future at Camp Nou remains uncertain. The 28-year-old defender joined the La Liga outfit in the 2022/23 season from Chelsea. He has made over 75 appearances for his team, with 42 of those coming last season.
He featured as a defensive midfielder or a centre-back but is currently sidelined for a couple of months due to an Achilles injury. The appointment of Hansi Flick has further pushed him down in the defensive order. He last played as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Valencia in the opening league encounter, managing 26 minutes.
The German manager has Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Inigo Martinez, and Pau Cubarsi as his most preferred options. He has made it clear that Christensen won’t play a prominent role in his squad.

Barcelona are ready to open talks and negotiate with any interested club. With just two years remaining on his contract, it is the perfect time for them to cash in. Inter Milan, Newcastle United, and Arsenal are monitoring the defender’s situation, who now has a real possibility to leave.
As per El Nacional, there is a higher chance for him to betray Flick and re-join a Premier League club. Arsenal are actively looking forward to this deal since they are targeting mid-term players who will take little time to adjust.
Christensen played 161 times in the PL plus capped 74 times for Denmark. He is seen as a risk-free asset, with the English giants willing to offer at least €30m for the Barca star.
It helps to provide more depth to the Gunner’s defence and also push players in midfield when needed. This plan is useful during situations when there is an injury or suspension on the table.
