Arsenal recently turned down an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad for star winger Leandro Trossard. The Middle Eastern club made a loan offer with an obligation to buy for €30 million. Transfer correspondent Peter O’Rourke via Football Insider has now claimed that Mikel Arteta’s side could open contract talks with the 29-year-old.
The attacker’s current contract runs until June 2026, and his parent club wants to protect him from foreign suitors by offering a new deal.
ARSENAL HOLDS LEANDRO TROSSARD IN HIGH REGARD
Trossard is an important asset for the English giants, and his performances justify the luxury treatment that he receives from the club. The versatile player scored 17 goals and provided two assists in 26 appearances last season.
Leandro Trossard played 34 Premier League games last campaign, 1646 minutes under his belt. Still managed to score 12 goals (approx. 0.67 goals per game). The former Brighton and Hove Albion winger is a super sub who can change the momentum of the game as soon as he enters the pitch.

At the moment, there isn’t any way that the club would sanction a sale for the Belgian given how Mikel Arteta’s side are pretty slim on depth on the wings and how they have four tournaments to worry about. To complement that, there wouldn’t be any incomings until winter.
The North London outfit has big plans for the Belgian speedster, and the rejection of the bid shows that they are not ready to let him go.
Mikel Arteta recently praised Trossard’s mentality after he scored a crucial goal against Aston Villa in the Premier League: “He’s upset when he doesn’t play; he’s upset when he enters the pitch, but he still gives you what you need. He’s a great example to others.”
Arsenal have offered contract extensions to Ben White, Jorginho, and Takehiro Tomiyasu this summer. Manager Mikel Arteta is next in line to receive a lucrative deal.

It’s only a matter of time before the Gunners successfully extend Trossard’s stay and put a dent on Al-Ittihad’s transfer plans.
In our opinion, there is a possibility for Trossard to move possibly next season, however, at the moment, he is here and should be pivotal in Arsenal’s season.
