Arsenal have reportedly entered race for Peterborough United talent Ricky-Jade Jones, ‘the next Jamie Vardy’.
Ricky-Jade Jones laid comparisons with the Leicester striker who nearly joined Arsenal due to his blistering pace upfront complemented by clinical finishing. Jones’ 100m sprint speed is 10.9 seconds, which explains his fast legs.
Jones, who models game on Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford, also has likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on his services.
According to Posh director of football Barry Fry, Arsenal made inquiry for the seventeen year old earlier this year.
Jones scored four goals for Peterborough in sixteen first team appearances this season and seems destined to play at the highest level. But Peterborough don’t sell cheap, they sold the likes of Dwight Gayle, Britt Assombalonga and Jack Marriott for huge fee and Ricky-Jade Jones should not be any different.
Our shadowed neighbors, Tottenham Hotspu*s, made £1.75million bid for Jones before the ill fate of Mauricio Pochettino was concluded – But Daniel Levy was told to resurgence with a much improved offer with Peterborough holding out for £10million. [The Sun]
And that amount was months back, Jones has definitely continued his progression although the financial impact of the ongoing pandemic crisis would be huge.
We may fancy Peterborough into selling Jones, for less than that ten million mark but would have to face ample of competition for his signatures once the summer window reopens.
