Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has been outspoken about his lack of game time in north London and could be willing to move to another club temporarily. Reports from CalcioNapoli24 have now added fuel to the fire, claiming that the Pole is open to a move to Serie A giants Napoli on a temporary deal.
Kiwior was a major component in the transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal in the 2024 summer transfer window. However, no deals for the 24-year-old materialized and he remained with the club. Now with the January window fast approaching, talks around a possible loan move for the player have again resurfaced.
While playing time was a major concern for Jakub Kiwior and his camp until last season, the player has had his fair share of minutes this year. That is mostly down to the defensive injury crisis the Gunners have found themselves in, allowing the Pole some extra minutes and games.
But will that be enough to keep him at the Emirates Stadium?
Arsenal’s condition for loaning Kiwior out in January
With the likelihood of retaining Kiwior seemingly slim, different possibilities of deals have come up. However, Arsenal are categorical about the type of deal and will only let their player leave if one condition is met.
The Gunners will look to loan Jakub Kiwior out to Napoli or any other interested party in January only if they agree to an obligatory purchase clause in the contract come summer 2025. While the Gunners cannot promise the player regular minutes, their transfer policy would urge the club to offload any players who are earning considerable salaries but not playing very often.
Kiwior played a total of 1,594 minutes across 30 games in various competitions for Arsenal last season. Just one-third through the current campaign, he has already racked up 644 minutes in just 13 appearances across competitions. However, Mikel Arteta as well as Kiwior know that his involvement will plummet once the likes of Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes are fit again.
