Arsenal have made it a trend to tie-down valuable players to long-term deals in recent years and have moved swiftly to secure another player’s future. As per exclusive reports from Arsenal Fanatics News, the Gunners have extended Gabriel Magalhaes deal beyond 2027, with the Brazilian set for an extended stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The two parties have been in talks about the same since the summer transfer window in 2024, with talks gathering pace towards the end of the calendar year. Now, as the season is more than halfway complete, Arsenal have begun planning for the future and contract extensions are an integral part of the process.

Gabriel Magalhaes, who has been with the Gunners since 2020, has become a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s side and forms their backbone alongside William Saliba in central defense. The 27-year-old even captained the side in their 1-0 win against Wolves in Martin Odegaard’s absence and is seen as a key leader and performer for the team.

Extending Gabriel’s deal will not only take the weight off the player’s shoulders but will also send a message to the squad about what the club’s intentions with the current crop of players is.

Magalhaes made the switch from Lille to Arsenal in September 2020 for a reported fee of £27m including add-ons and was fast-tracked into the first team. A tall, strong and physically imposing player, his natural abilities seemed like the perfect fit for the demands of the Premier League.

He made 32 appearances in his first season, scoring two goals and providing one assist as well as he established himself as a key player in defense. The following season in 2021/22, Gabriel’s PL appearances soared from 23 to 35, and he also added five important goals. In 2022/23, he featured in all of Arsenal’s league matches as they finished runners-up in the league.

Since then, Gabriel has been an irreplaceable entity in the Gunners’ squad and has made 199 appearances so far, scoring an impressive 20 goals and providing two assists as well. He has also picked up 25 yellow cards and two red cards.
