All will be forgotten the moment Oxlade-Chamberlain steps into the turf of Madrid to face Tottenham Hotspur in what is Liverpool’s second consecutive final of Champions League.
The backlash that occurred back in 2017 when Chamberlain left Arsenal to play for the Merseyside is no longer existent in the heart of Gooners. We are no longer devastated at the Englishman. But what we demand in return is a brutal defeat to Lilywhites.
Come June 1, Liverpool will be doubled up with the Arsenal fans supporting too, not because we love their squad but only because of our ever longing hatred for our Neighbours. No Gooner would ever accept the sight of Spurs lifting a silverware.
Though the chances/odds of Spurs lifting the trophy are highly unlikely but you never know with Liverpool who may turn out to be their Karius of this year or a Sours defender may do a Ramos to Salah.
Having said all, the Gunners are betting all their money on Chamberlain to win the trophy for the sake of their pride, which the former Arsenal defender is duly accepting.
Giving Arsenal a hint of confidence, Chamberlain said to club’s official website
“If I can be involved, that would be amazing, but just to be around it and be fit and healthy again is good for me as well at the minute.”
“It’s been another little journey for me the last part, but it’s been really exciting to be in and around the team and in contention to maybe have some part in the final.
“After ‘crutching’ my way around the pitch last year, it’s nice to be in this situation!”
The 25-year-old was serving a knee injury but is speculated to play the finals. The bittersweet relation with the defender should turn out the way we want, because seeing Tottenham win is no less a nightmare.
