The on-loan centre-back William Saliba faces yet another spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken foot in his Saint-Etienne side’s 1-0 victory over Monaco at the weekend.
Arsenal who paid an hefty sum of £27 million to sign Saliba is spending the 2019/20 season on loan at Saint-Etienne as per the terms of the deal the Gunners struck with the French outfit.
William Saliba started off the season sidelined, missing opening seven league games owing to hamstring injury and didn’t make his first appearance of the season until the end of September. But since his return he transform the club’s fortunes on the pitch.
Saint-Etienne recorded four wins and a draw in five fixtures, with Saliba donning the defence in all of five games. However, Arsenal have suffered a fresh blow, with defender William Saliba suffering another serious injury.
Claude Puel boss has confirmed to the club’s official website that the 18-year-old broke his fifth metatarsal against Monaco at the weekend.
“William Saliba, victim of a blow against AS Monaco last Sunday (1-0), suffers a crack of the fifth metatarsal and will miss the confrontation against the FCO,” a statement via the club’s official website reads.
