Arsenal hope to push for Ivan Toney

Arsenal-Ivan-Toney

Arsenal are planning to make a move for Brentford’s goalscoring spree Ivan Toney. The striker is currently serving a ban until January for betting breaches.

After the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, Toney currently is most liked English striker of almost every Premier League club. The 27-year-old is being wanted by all major clubs of London – Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Mikel Arteta however has plans to lure the forward in and sneak him from the rivals exactly the same way he convinced Declan Rice. Whilst Rice costed the Gunners over £100 million, Toney is expected to be reigning around £60 million.

Arsenal will be facing tough competition from Spurs and Chelsea, two clubs who are in desperate need of a striker. While Tottenham see a like-to-like replacement of Harry Kane in Ivan Toney, Chelsea haven’t been pleased with the signing of Jackson.

Former Arsenal star believes Ivan Toney is the most realistic option for Arsenal.

‘Only Ivan Toney is available for them in January – there aren’t many centre forwards around in the world. They’re a dying breed.’

‘Years ago you had Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham and Robbie Fowler were getting 20 to 30 goals a season and they didn’t get a million England caps. Ian Wright and Les Ferdinand too. Now you get to 20 goals in the Premier League and you play for England.

‘Toney is a good player – he can hold the ball up, he’s good in the air. Arsenal might have to go for him. But there are not a million centre forwards around.’

Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus as a centre forward but getting Ivan Toney in their squad will make them a team to fight for the title and that is what Arteta aspires even single second, especially after coming extremely close to the Premier League title last season.
