Arsenal reportedly aim to sign Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi. Dubbed the “next Sergio Busquets,” Zubimendi has drawn the attention of top European clubs with his impressive performances in La Liga this season.
Despite being in a good position in the Premier League table, Arsenal has struggled in matches where Thomas Partey was missing or substituted. The January signing of Jorginho from Chelsea provided a temporary solution, but the club still seeks a long-term option to replicate everything Partey offers.
Barcelona had previously expressed interest in the 23-year-old midfielder, but Zubimendi reportedly has his sights set on a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal believed to be in pole position to sign him.
Zubimendi’s similarities to Busquets have been well documented, with his composure on the ball, passing ability, and positional awareness making him an attractive prospect for any team.
With Arsenal reportedly valuing the Spaniard at around €40m, the potential signing of Zubimendi could eliminate the final weakness in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
However, it is worth noting that Arsenal is believed to have Declan Rice as their primary target for the summer transfer window. Zubimendi, with his release clause and promising performances, is likely a backup option should the Gunners be unable to negotiate fees for Rice.
